Writer Gordana Crnkovic (Croatia) reads her short texts of overheard dialogue, anecdotes, jokes, fantastic tales, impressions and reflections. Composer David Hahn’s (US) sound design mixes his recorded ambient sounds from Zagreb with his own music compositions. Video artist Victor Ingrassia (US) starts with lo-res snapshots yet creates a lush and moving visual landscape.

Opposing conventional stereotypes about the “barbaric Balkans” that were often reinforced by Western media during the recent war in that region, Zagreb Everywhere provides a unique insider’s view on Crnkovic’s native city and its inimitable features, while at the same time showing the experiences of that city and its people as having a broadly human appeal and resonance. Zagreb Everywhere illuminates, with subtlety and depth, a new Zagreb with each viewing.
